Zhang Fang Fang
1st Class Honours & Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal

Interviewed on Channel 8 news on 30 September 2007, it is easy to see why Fang Fang was selected to be featured on primetime television.  Having graduated with First Class Honours from NTU in 2007, Fang Fang also clinched the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal award in the same year.

But it did not come easy for Fang Fang at all.  An international student from China, Fang Fang had to overcome cultural differences and language barriers when she first arrived in Singapore in 2000.  With sheer determination, she went on to top the Diploma in Accounting & Finance cohort in TP in 2003, and achieved the Bronze Medal for CCA Leadership Award.

With her excellent results, she was offered a scholarship by Financial Training Company to pursue the ACCA programme while working with a statutory board. Her good results (she topped four papers in Singapore – Information Systems, Business Taxation, Audit & Internal Review and Audit and Assurance Services) so impressed her employer that they sponsored her for the Bachelor of Accountancy programme with a second specialisation in Banking and Finance at NTU.She was placed in the Dean’s List for 2 consecutive years in 2005 and 2006 and achieved First Class Honours, winning the prestigious University Scholars Award at NTU, in 2007.

Looking back, Fang Fang was grateful for the fruitful 3 years spent in TP, “I was initially lost in tutorials and project discussions. My lecturers and group mates made great efforts in encouraging me to participate and always gave me positive comments on my contributions.”

Of her academic success, Fang Fang attributed it to the solid foundation laid from the rigorous curriculum and the dedicated lecturers in A&F. “I am thankful to the lecturers who not only imparted knowledge to me, but challenged me to think beyond the textbooks. I am proud to be a graduate of A&F.”
