In Temasek Polytechnic, there is a formalised system for caring for students on campus called The Campus Care Network (CCN).

Teaching staff are assigned as Care Persons, otherwise affectionately known as CPs, to students. The CP is a friend, a coach, a mentor providing emotional and academic support to students in times of need and a facilitator of growth in the lives of the students. All CPs are trained in basic counselling skills so that they can help students get the best out of the 3 years they spend in the Polytechnic.

The CP meets his / her students in groups for discussions on common, shared issues and problems, for get-togethers and outings, or just for a chat. Students may also see the CP privately to ask for personal advice.

Early each academic year, staff and students work together for a good cause - to raise money for the Student Emergency Fund. The CCN Day is filled with games, activities, student performances and food fair. The purpose of this CCN Day is to bring together CPs and their students to reinforce CCN objectives.

The objectives of CCN are :

• to emphasize personal contact and rapport between lecturers and students, and among students themselves
• to maintain and sustain a caring, quality environment to ensure student learning and personal growth
• to raise funds for the needy students of the polytechnic

You can contact your child’s CP to find out how he/she does in school.
Students can also approach their diploma’s Academic Advisors, for advice or guidance on the following matters:

• developing academic plans in a course of study
• deciding between different specialisations within the same School or options within a course.

Subject-specific advising on the cross-disciplinary subjects that students can choose such as what a subject curriculum involves, the requirements and learning opportunities available.
