Taking the Road Less Travelled
Despite achieving outstanding results in TP, Juliah Bee decided to take the road less travelled. Be amazed by the sheer amount of charity and volunteer work this young woman has undertaken. Juliah graduated in 1998 with Diploma with Merit and was our valedictorian at the Graduation Ceremony. After working for two years, she enrolled in the Bachelor of Business programme of NTU and graduated in 2003. | ![]() |
On graduation, she chose to go into community service, and worked as a volunteer for various organizations: Action for AIDS, Unifem, MILK and Sex Workers Outreach Project, where she reached out to the workers in Geylang. She shared that it was a “humbling experience hearing these girls tell me their life stories”.
She joined Mercy Relief and was in Medan from July 2005 to March 2006 for Tsunami relief work. She is now with Habitat for Humanity, overseeing Singapore-funded projects in Aceh.
Looking back, Juliah recalls, “I’d never stop rambling about TP when I talk to youths on what to do after O Levels. The lecturers are the highlight of TP. The 3 years in TP have moulded me to be confident and professional in whatever I do, while maintaining humility.”
For this young lady, her dream is to set up her own NGO in Indonesia and plans to find new volunteer opportunities and research their viability while in Aceh.
