Diploma in Law and Management

Volunteer at Legal Aid Bureau

The Legal Aid Bureau (“LAB”) is a department of the Ministry of Law.  It provides legal aid and advice to persons of limited means.  The legal assistance covers a range of areas which include family law, adoption, road accident, will and probate, etc.

Law & Management Diploma students have had a history of volunteering at the LAB.  Our student volunteers work alongside LAB’s Legal Executives and help to interview members of the public seeking legal help, interpret statements from other languages into English, conduct simple research and prepare drafts.  This programme is not only a considerable contribution to LAB’s mission and community service but also an invaluable learning experience for the student volunteers. Students put to practice their basic legal knowledge and communications skills in real-life situations.

Justice Shield Law Advocacy Competition

Law & Management Diploma students formed their own litigation teams and participated in mock trials.  They interviewed witnesses, researched the law, structured questions for examination of witnesses and cross-examination, and prepared submissions.  The competition helped students to familiarise themselves with criminal law and procedure.
