Changi Youth Ambassador
In partnership with The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), a group of about 30 students from the Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management, hav been volunteering as service ambassadors at the Changi Airport for the past 6 months.
Calling themselves “Rovers”, these ambassadors are trained to be on the constant look out for opportunities to proactively offer assistance to airport passengers. They also introduce the various facilities and services to passengers in transit so that these passengers can better spend their time and experience the exciting happenings of the airport.

A special student body has recently been set up at The Tourism Academy @ Sentosa. Known as The Service Ambassador, it is run by students under the leadership of Jonathan Leong, a senior from the Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management.
These service ambassadors are deployed at various school events, playing hosts or ushering guests. In addition, they also conduct campus tours and conduct workshops for students. Sometimes, the service ambassadors are deployed for external functions. Some of the external events that they are involved in include the World Gourmet Summit Awards of Excellence, the Singapore Tourism Board Star Awards, and the Worldview Youth Conference, etc.

| | | | | Hospitality & Tourism Students go overseas to study competition
To enable its students to develop more holistic and global perspectives, TP’s Hospitality & Tourism Division organised two overseas educational trips to Dubai and Macau and Hong Kong in November 2005 for 146 final-year students.
The trips served as an extension of classroom learning for the students. By studying the development of tourism products and services at these places, the students could better understand the interplay between concepts and reality. This is critical as the hospitality and tourism industry is a global one, in which the need to understand and improve upon the best practices and trends overseas is necessary to ensure that Singapore remains an attractive destination for tourists.
The destinations were selected as they are likely to pose challenges to Singapore on many fronts including integrated resorts, shopping, waterfront developments, mega-attractions development and airport development.
