Client-based Student Projects
Diploma in Business students doing Corporate Events Management subject are actively involved in major client-based student projects, under the supervision of Business Communication (BUS COM) lecturers.
Major client-based student projects included:
- People’s Association Soundwaves Concert.
Diploma in Business students helped People’s Association to organise Soundwaves Concert, in celebration of Racial Harmony Month, at Esplanade Theatre. The Guest-of-Honour was Dr. Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications, and the Arts. Other VIP guests included: Minister Khaw Boon Wan, Patron of PA Youth Chinese Orchestra; Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Patron of Singapore Indian Orchestra and Choir; and Mr. Hawazi Daipi, Patron of Orkestra Melayu Singapura. There were 2,500 participants.
- Singapore Board Games Championship and Official Opening of FUNtastic YOUth Lounge.
Diploma in Business students helped Bukit Ho Swee Community Centre to organise Singapore Board Games Championship, and Official Opening of FUNtastic YOUth Lounge. There were 120 participants. The Guest-of-Honour was Dr. Lily Neo, Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar GRC and Adviser to Kreta Ayer–Kim Seng GRC.

- Family Life Carnival.
Diploma in Business students helped Kampong Ubi-Kembangan Community Centre to organise the Kampong Ubi-Kembangan Family Life Carnival. Dr. Ong Seh Hong, PBM, Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC, Adviser for Kampong Ubi-Kembangan Constituency, was the Guest-of-Honour for the event. There were 5,000 participants.
- Community Centre National Day Dinner.
Diploma in Business students, helped Kampong Ubi-Kembangan Community Centre to organise the 41st National Day Dinner. The Guest-of-Honour was Dr. Ong Seh Hong, PBM, Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC, Adviser for Kampong Ubi-Kembangan Constituency. There were over 1,980 participants.

- Singapore History Museum Open House.
Diploma in Business students helped Singapore History Museum to organise the Open House. There were 1,106 participants. Ms Kathryn Peh, Manager of the Singapore History Museum, was obviously pleased with Diploma in Business students and said: “I am writing formally to extend the Museum's appreciation and thanks for your students' participation and assistance in planning and organising a successful open house event called Re:NEW ......., in celebration of the National Day holiday………...please also congratulate your batch of students for maintaining an excellent team spirit and professional attitude in servicing this account as their school project. We hope this collaboration was a rewarding learning experience for them as well as it was for our team at the Museum.”

- Biennial General Meeting and Pageant.
Diploma in Business students helped Bukit Ho Swee Community Centre to organise 2 events, Biennial General Meeting, and Beauty Pageant. The Guest-of Honour was Dr Lily Neo, Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar GRC and Adviser to Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng GRCs. There were 200 participants.
- Health Screening, Official Opening of the PCF Centre, and Launch of Kiddy Bag by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Diploma in Business students helped Kampong Ubi Community Centre to organise 3 events, Health Screening, Official Opening of the PCF Centre, and Launch of Kiddy Bag by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). The Guest-of-Honour was Mr. Mohamad Maidin BPM, Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Environment), MP for Marine Parade GRC & Adviser to Kampong Ubi Community Centre. There were 1,100 participants.
- Subway Singapore Development Pte Ltd.
Diploma in Business students worked with Subway Singapore Development Pte Ltd on the client-based project for the subject “Corporate Journalism and Publications”. The client-based project collaboration covered: Website design (electronic publishing); Menu brochures; Leasing and franchising brochures; and Newsletters (print publishing). Subway worldwide operates over 24,000 restaurants in over 81 countries.
- Family Day Carnival.
Diploma in Business students helped Kampong Ubi Community Centre to organise Kampong Ubi Community Centre Family Day Carnival. The theme was “Home: Heartland of Many Ethnicities”. The Guest-of-Honour was Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong who highlighted the importance of racial harmony in Singapore, a theme which the Diploma in Business students drove home through the event. There were 6,000 participants.

- Singapore Anti- Narcotics Association (SANA) Anti-Drug Abuse Day.
Diploma in Business students helped SANA Volunteer Club organised the Anti-Drug Abuse Day cum Party at the Jamiyah Children’s Home. The Guest-of Honour was Mr Mohamad Maidin, BPM, Member of Parliament for Kampong Ubi. Mr. Mohamad Maidin launched the Mentor Scheme in which students from various schools volunteered to become mentors to the children from the Jamiyah Home.
- Talent Time Competition.
Diploma in Business students helped Kampong Ubi Community Centre Youth Executive Committee (KUYEC) to plan and organise a talent time competition targeting at youths between 12 and 25 years old. The theme was “Free Stylin”. The Guest-of Honour was Mr. Mohamad Maidin, BPM, Member of Parliament for Kampong Ubi. There were over 500 participants.
