Specialist Diploma in Accounting & Finance

At a glance:

Dual specialization in both Accounting and Finance.

Course Synopsis

This one-year programme is developed for company executives, managers and businessmen who wish to enhance their financial knowledge and skills. Participants may come from non-financial backgrounds such as marketing, sales, computing, engineering, law and human resources.

Successful participants are equipped with knowledge, skills and techniques of accounting and finance to respond to demands in the workplace.

Career Opportunities

The course will enhance participants' management competencies, and prospects for career advancement. It may also open opportunities for participants to switch to a career in accounting and finance.

Target Participants

Executives, managers and businessmen who wish to enhance their accounting and financial skills and knowledge. Prior knowledge of accounting and finance is not a pre-requisite.

Exemptions

Candidates who successfully complete the Specialist Diploma in Accounting & Finance may apply for the following exemptions:

  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) – Paper F3: Financial Accounting;
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) – Paper C1: Fundamentals of Management Accounting and Paper C2: Fundamentals of Financial Accounting;
  • Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) – Financial Accounting, Singapore Taxation and Strategic & Operations Management;
  • Queensland University of Technology – up to 5 subjects in its Bachelor of Business course;
  • University of Queensland – 4 subjects in Accounting for Decision Making, Personal Wealth Management, Investment & Portfolio Management and Financial Management.
  • Nanyang Technological University – AA101: Accounting I if a minimum of “B” grade is obtained for both Financial Accounting and Management Accounting subjects of the Specialist Diploma in Accounting & Finance.
  • SIM University (UniSIM) – exemptions on a case-by-case basis.

1 year, 3 times per week

from 7 pm to 10 pm

Venue

Classes may be conducted outside Temasek Polytechnic premises.

  • Singaporeans – 80%
  • Singapore PRs – 78%

Course Fees*

  • S$1,180 for Singaporeans
  • S$1,300 for Singapore PRs
  • S$5,885 for Foreigners

* fees are inclusive of 7% GST and after MOE subsidy

Minimum Entry Requirement

Participants must possess a recognised diploma.

Applicants without the minimum academic qualification but holding managerial positions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
