Advanced Diploma in Police Studies

Course Synopsis
As our society matures and public access to information increases exponentially, there is a continuous need for law enforcers and other justice professionals to upgrade themselves in order to improve their job performance and meet the rising expectations of the public whom they serve.

This course serves to provide a post-diploma option for persons involved in the justice process so as to upgrade their skills and knowledge in areas relevant to their work.

Career Opportunities
Generally to allow personnel to move into roles where "system thinking” is essential and where they can assist in the direction of policy / operational matters and research.

Progression Path
Graduates of this Advanced Diploma course who are serving Singapore Police Force Officers are eligible for entry into the final year of the Bachelor of Justice (International Policing) awarded by the Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

Course Commencement
Bridging course - every April
Advanced Diploma in Police Studies - every October

Duration
Bridging course - 6 months
Advanced Diploma in Police Studies - 11/2 years, 3 times per week from 7 pm to 10 pm.

Closing Date
Bridging Programme - every February
Advanced Diploma in Police Studies - every July

Course Fee
Bridging Course : S$3,787.80 * per participant

Advanced Diploma in Police Studies

  • S$2,060 for Singaporean
  • S$2,270 for Permanent Resident (PR)
  • S$10,282.70 for Foreigner

* fees are inclusive of 7% GST

Minimum Entry Requirements
Holders of either:

  • part-time Diploma in Police Studies & Security Management or Diploma in Management & Police Studies; or
  • full-time Diploma in Legal Studies; or
  • full-time Diploma from polytechnic or equivalent
  • a TP recognized equivalent of the above

- At least 3 years of relevant working experience.
- Holders of general diplomas (ie. those who do not possess a diploma in police or legal studies) will be required to undergo a 6-month Bridging Course commencing in April each year. Subjects covered in the Bridging Course will be Legal System and Methods, Criminal Law (including Criminology), Commercial and Family Law, and Criminal Procedure and Evidence.
