INFORMATION ON APPOINTMENT AS FIRE SAFETY MANAGER
Background of Fire Safety Manager (FSM) Scheme
With the passing of the Fire Safety Act 1993 and the Fire Safety (Fire Safety Manager) Regulations 1994, it has become mandatory for owners of designated buildings to appoint Fire Safety Managers. The role of a FSM is to enhance the fire safety standard within buildings.
How can I be appointed as a FSM?
- Upon completion of the DSFSM with TP, you will qualify for appointment as an FSM under the Fire Safety Act.
- When you are offered an appointment as FSM by a building owner, the building owner will submit a form ( http://www.scdf.gov.sg/Building_Professionals/downloads.html) to Singapore Civil Defence Force to appoint you as FSM of that building.
- SCDF will then verify that the qualification you are relying on was awarded by an ATI (Approved Training Institute). TP is an ATI under the SCDF scheme.
- Students do not need to take further tests to be appointed as a FSM.
Where can I get more info on the FSM Scheme?
Pls refer to SCDF website: http://www.scdf.gov.sg
