Certificate/ Diploma in Para-Legal Studies

Course Synopsis
The programmes provide participants with the skills necessary to enable them to function effectively as para-legals in a legal office environment. It also provides a recognised qualification for those who wish to further themselves academically.

Those who complete the Diploma programme will be proficient in the general administration and the day-to-day running of the law office or legal department.

Target Participants
Participants working in the law office or legal department and those who wish to make law their career.

Award Criteria
Participants may sign up for individual modules leading to a Certificate of Attendance for those who attain at least 75% attendance. Certificate of Completion will be awarded to those who attain at least 75% attendance and pass the assessments. These modules do not lead to formal qualification. Subjects marked with * or # are available for registration.

Progression Path
Participants must complete the Certificate level in order to proceed to the Diploma level, provided there are enough qualified applicants in the next stage.

Duration

  • Certificate - 1 year
  • Diploma - 2 years
  • Thrice a week, 7pm to 10pm

5 December 2008

Course Fee per Participant (incl. of 7% GST)

  • Certificate - S$4,515.40
  • Diploma - S$9,030.80
  • Individual module - S$599.20

Minimum Entry Requirements
One of the following AND at least 2 years of working experience

  • 3 GCE ‘O' level subjects :
    English Grades 1 – 6
    Any other 2 subjects Grades 1 – 6
  • ITC/ Higher NITEC or NITEC with at least GPA 3.0 and GCE ‘O' level English (Grades 1 – 6)

Note :

  • Applicants who do not have GCE ‘O' level English (Grades 1- 6) may replace it with IELTS or TOEFL
  • Those with 2 GCE ‘O' level subjects (Grades 1 – 6) or 4 GCE ‘N' levels subjects with an average Grade 4 must attend and pass a 6-month Foundation Programme (http://www.tp.edu.sg/home/pdc/parttime/pdc_pt_tbe.htm)
