| Desmond Lim Choon Khee Desmond obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Merit), Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) and Master of Social Sciences (Applied Sociology) degrees from the National University of Singapore. He was initiated into the public service in the Incentives Management Division in Spring Singapore in 1996. With this work experience, he was employed by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in 1998 to further develop and administer the S$40 million Tourism Development Assistance Schemes under the Corporate Planning Division. From 2001-2004, as Assistant Director, he was involved in developmental work at the Special Projects and STB Consultancy Division that is instrumental for developing tourism products like the Changi Chapel & Museum, the Southern Islands Development, Hua Song Museum and acquisition of the Tang dynasty shipwreck collection. In the process, Desmond gained valuable experience in writing and presenting board and ministry level papers to seek for approval of concepts and budget for the various projects. In addition, Desmond was also involved in G-to-G level overseas consultancy projects for countries such as Cambodia, Lao PDR, Papua New Guinea and China. As the Course Manager of the Diploma, Desmond seeks to ensure the students benefit from a style of education that is highly relevant, industry oriented, dynamic and differentiated. He also ensure the students remains at the forefront of leisure based training and industry consciousnesses but facilitating their involvement in major events such as the IMF, Singapore Grand Prix and the Singapore Youth Olympics in 2010. During his leisure time, Desmond loves admiring and collecting items such as antique prints, movie-based toys, shipwreck based ceramics and fossils. His utmost passion is travelling and paleontology.

![]() | Susan Yeo- Goh Siew Kim She started her teaching career in 1986 in Katong Convent Secondary School, specialising in English Literature and English Language. However, eager to test her organizational skills, she left to become a project consultant handling the 13th World Congress of Gynecologists and Obstetricians, then the largest Congress to be held in Singapore. However, her role then was not only in organizing meetings but event and show promotion as well which naturally saw her joining Raffles Hotel thereafter where she managed the Jubilee Hall at Raffles Hotel for the next few years. Amongst the shows managed and organized by Susan is the sell-out Emily of Emerald Hill. Susan takes great pleasure and pride in being able to explore the myriad of initiatives for the Diploma and she is at her happiest when she is able to re-build the confidence and self-worth of her students and see them excel. When the going gets tough, she de-stresses by reading, reading and more reading with a little cooking and baking thrown in on the side. Susan has been in TP since 1995. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from National University of Singapore and Graduate Diploma in Marketing from Marketing Institute of Singapore. ![]() | Joan Ho The first thing that one would notice about Joan would be that she readily flashes her sunshine smile to greet your day. As a graduate of the Diploma in Hospitality Management course in TP; Joan received her headstart to pursue a deep interest in the Hospitality Industry with the resolve that one day she will come back to teach. Her commitment to continuous learning meant that the doors to wisdom are never shut and she subsequently went on to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the University of Western Sydney. Joan is an active member of the Club Managers’ Association Singapore (CMAS) and has been involved in organizing international level conferences for the association.

![]() | Maggie Seow Being very much an outdoor and sociable person, Maggie spared no hesitation in joining the hospitality industry upon graduation. She was one of the pioneers in the Marketing team for Star Cruises and took part in launching the first few vessels. She then moved on to undertake an operations role with Orchid Country Club where she manage the facilities as well as developed activities for the Club members. When the Spa business started to grow in Singapore in the late 1990s, Maggie was quick to pick up this new business sector knowledge with St. Gregory Spas where she held executive positions in both 'Product Development' and 'Operations' before she ventured to develop the spa and fitness club industry in China. Some of the booming Chinese cities she had worked in include Dalian, Shanghai and Chongqing under the banner of properties such as Hilton and JW Marriott. During her stint in China, it was not all work and no play. Maggie developed an intense interest in Chinese culture and history and she managed to explore most of the provinces in China. In particular, she is amazed by the architectural design of 'The Forbidden City', the discovery of 'The Terra Cotta Warriors' and the spectacular view from 'The Hua Mountain' (featured in many books written by Jing-Yong). More specifically in the last 12 years, Ben had helped companies manage their marketing activities with a focus on corporate events – product launches, conferences, seminars, exhibitions and incentive trips. Some of his clients include Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, CA, Singapore Airlines, Toshiba ,Epson Singapore and government organisations including Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (NUS) and the Ministry of Education. Sandra has over 10 years of working experience in the field of Festivals and Events Management in organisations such as the Edinburgh Festival Society, The Esplanade, Theatres by the Bay, The Arts House at The Old Parliament, CHIJMES and Serangoon Gardens Country Club. She was also amongst one of the many entrepreneurs to start-up an events marketing and management business in 2003 with her former SIP intern from Temasek Polytechnic. ![]() | Michael Yeo Michael graduated with a Master in Business Administration (University of Southern Australia), Bachelor in Hospitality & Tourism (RMIT) and a Higher Diploma in Hotel Management (SHATEC). His 17 years of experience covered the Hospitality, Resort and Cruise Industry. During the span of his career, he had worked for the former Tokyu chain Hotels – Pan Pacific Hotel, the HK filming Theme Park - Tang Dynasty City and Star Cruises. With the delivery of the guests’ experience in the Theme Park, he was involved in Sales, Guest Relation, Translation & Interpretation (English/ Chinese/ Japanese), Programming and Park write-ups. More recently, Michael was the Assistant General Manager at Star Cruises Singapore starting off with the setting up of offices and Regional Marketing to China, Japan, Taiwan & Hong Kong before settling down to Singapore Market. Cruises was something he enjoyed selling as there are a diverse range of Promotional Activities that could be done like Themed Cruises apart from the daily operational activities like Sales & Marketing, Operation, Accreditation, Internal Auditing, Profit and Loss, Yield management and many others that he hopes to share here. ![]() | David Shum Kwok Khoon David graduated from Queensland University of Technology, Australia (QUT) and Singapore Polytechnic, majoring in Civil Engineering. He bagged 13 years of experience in facilities management across condominiums, factories, clubhouses and a multi sports discipline recreation complex. He was the Centre Manager of a Sports Complex managed by Singapore Sports Council and oversaw facilities such as the stadium, sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio and a family oriented theme-park swimming pool. Sport is close to David’s heart and this runner and coach has participated in more than 10 marathons and biathlons (domestic and international). David is also a qualified soccer coach. He spends his leisure time as a volunteer trainer for SAFRA runners and members in other healthy lifestyle activities. ![]() | Justin Matthew Pang Justin Matthew Pang graduated from Griffith University, Australia with a Bachelor in Hotel Management in 1998. He had also attended the General Managers’ Program in Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Management in 2008. Prior to joining Temasek Polytechnic, Justin had worked with a number of renowned hotels and resorts, ranging from the legendary Raffles Hotel, the Welsh Flagship Resort, the Celtic Manor Resort in the United Kingdom, the Marriott Surfers’ Paradise Resort, Australia and the Thistle Park and Palace Hotels, London. His last posting was in the Raffles Resort in the Caribbean, as Director of Revenue and Reservations. In addition to the hospitality sector, Justin had also served in the Food & Beverage sector with Bon-Food, Singapore. For his many contributions to increasing the efficiency within the hospitality industry, Justin was awarded the Singapore National Productivity Award in 2002. Justin is currently a member of the Cornell Hotel Society and the Hotel & Catering International Management Association (HCIMA). He recently gained double accreditation as a Certified Rooms Division Executive and Certified Revenue Manager from the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
