The Course
The course is done at Sentosa Island, a multi-billon-dollar world-class island resort. This campus provides the right setting for learning and action. The island itself is the learning ground for students. You have the opportunity to experience and see things happen in real business settings, including hotels, restaurants, pubs, golf clubs, museums, spas, shops, special events and other recreational facilities. You will also study amidst a rich environment with international students from a variety of countries.
As hospitality and tourism industry is dynamic and multi-sectored in nature, the course provides a broad-based curriculum that is holistic in approach. The objective of the course is to produce graduates who possess a sound understanding of business practices, and are familiar with the technical know-how on key aspects of the hospitality and tourism industry.
Graduates will be armed with IT and life skills like problem-solving and effective communication. The graduate should then be more than ready to take on the challenges at the world of work.
The students will also undergo a 15-week attachment to industry called the Student Internship Programme (SIP).
Career Opportunities
The Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Business graduates would have undergone broad-based training that will make them highly versatile. Being groomed for executive positions, they can choose to work in many service sectors from arts to leisure, from hospitality to recreation, in fact any tourism-related business. The graduate may find employment with the civil service, hotels, country clubs, resorts, food service businesses, cruise, events management, entertainment promoters, exhibition and convention companies, tour operators, museums, national tourism organisations, retail and leisure attractions.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Besides the appropriate academic qualification, applicants have to be competent in English Language and also have a lively personality suited for the hospitality and tourism industry.

Progression Path
Learning need not stop after graduation. This is because The Tourism Academy’s graduates are able to gain direct entry into renowned universities in countries such as the United States, Australia and Britain, with up to 50% of exemptions (depending on the grades obtained) for bachelor degree programmes.

Graduation Requirements
To be eligible for graduation, a student should have completed:
- all prescribed coursework (subjects) for the DHTB with a minimum cumulative GPA of 1.0
- a minimum total of 91 credit units
- all TP core subjects (19 credit units)
- all diploma core subjects (72 credit units)
