Fredrick’s going far
| The impossible is often the untried and learning often encompasses pitting your talents against the best and boldest. Diploma in Communications Management Junior, Fredrick Lai, found this out when he won the Radio 100.3FM Fight Club, a DJ Competition, the finals of which were held at Plaza Singapura. More than 300 people took part in this competition for which nine auditions were held, of which seven were held in all five polytechnics and in two universities. Fredrick won $1,500 Capital Land voucher and a trophy. For him, better than the winning money is getting air time together with five other finalists in a programme, called "Campus Gang" targeted at young people. Said Frederick,¡§Dreams do come true, and mine just did. Winning the competition has enhanced my confidence. It is a wonderful experience and a great opportunity to be one step closer to my dream of becoming a radio presenter.” | ![]() |
UWA-CMM Student Exchange
Students from University of Western Australia (UWA) and TP’s Diploma in Communications and Media Management (CMM) get to take part in an on-going exchange programme.
UWA students come to Singapore, where they attend Singlecam and Multicam (TV Production) classes at CMM’s state-of-the-art MediaBiz studios. They are taught by CMM lecturers, and upon completion of the programme, receive credit units from UWA.
CMM students also have the option of visiting the UWA campus in Perth, where they attend classes on cultural studies. This takes place during the semester break. Those who have gone over say they enjoy the experience of learning in a university setting, as well as spending 3 weeks together in a beautiful city with their fellow course mates.
Polytechnic Forum
CMM students were approached to produce trailers for the Polytechnic Forum. They filmed and edited the trailers, which were all done in our CMM TV studio. All the trailers were shown on the Poly Forum website.
NCDCC Workshop
The National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC) approached CMM to conduct a 3-day course for their cadets.
The NCDCC cadets needed to learn how a newsletter was put together. So over the 3 days, CMM lecturers were assisted by CMM students to teach them the basics of journalism, photography, and the Adobe Photoshop software.
All cadets and students involved had a fun together, and wished they had more time!
