![]() | Sng Choon Leng Course Manager, Business Studies Grouping Sng Choon Leng is the Course Manager of the Business Studies Grouping Division. He graduated with the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master of Social Sciences (MSocSc) in Applied Economics from the National University of Singapore. In his BA course, he was awarded a scholarship by United Overseas Bank Group. He has vast experience in teaching and lecturing. Prior to joining Temasek Polytechnic, he taught Economics ‘A' Level and ‘S' Paper in a junior college. He was sent by the polytechnic to teach in Mikkeli Polytechnic , Finland , on two occasions (1998 and 2000). Each round he conducted a 48-hr module in Managerial Economics for the Industrial and Business Management Bachelor Degree Programme. Choon Leng is also involved in applied research. In 1999, he conducted a study on firms' attitudes toward innovation and presented a research paper entitled ‘Public Policies to Foster Innovative SMB in the Manufacturing Sector' at an international conference on small and medium businesses in Zhejiang , China . ![]() | Kenneth Fong Section Head Kenneth is the Section Head of the Economics section. He joined Temasek Polytechnic in 1996 as a lecturer in Temasek Business School . Prior to that, he worked for eight years in Singapore Airlines as an administrative officer. He held various portfolios in the areas of Advertising & Promotions; Passenger Marketing and Training. As a lecturer in Temasek Business School , Kenneth specialized in teaching Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, drawing from his extensive experience in the airline industry. He held the position of subject leader for Microeconomics and Macroeconomics for five years. Kenneth was also actively involved in research and he was responsible for compiling and analyzing the polytechnic's Consumer Confidence Index in 1999. He takes a keen interest in continuing education and has been involved in the development and coordination of part-time diploma programmes for the police and other security forces. She was involved in the negotiation and marketing of office and retail space of major shopping centers. She has worked with companies such as UIC Development and Raffles Holdings. As part of the professional educational development, Nancy also has the experience in teaching working adults. Her research interests are in the areas of applied microeconomics. She completed 2 theses in this area, namely “Manipulability of Scoring (Voting) Mechanisms” and “Real and Financial Volatility of Stock Returns”. Prior to joining Temasek Polytechnic, Lily spent 2 years at Insead, teaching microeconomics and statistics for MBA courses. Prior to joining Temasek Polytechnic, Joyce was working as a Senior Analyst in property consultancy firms such as Jones Lang LaSalle and Savills Singapore, where she specialized in Asia Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). Joyce has worked on several market leading publications such as the Asia Pacific Property Digest and the Retail Sentiment Survey and has also co-written an article entitled “Conversion of old CBD offices into Apartments?” which has been published in a local newspaper. She is a believer of causes that further the socio-economic well-being of people through education and skill development as well as through the growth of businesses and wealth management. ![]() | Hansen Yeong Meng Fei Hansen graduated from National University of Singapore in 2004 with majors in Economics and History. He completed his Masters in International Political Economy at Nanyang Technological Institute’s S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in 2008. Hansen’s academic interests lie in macroeconomics and financial markets crisis and regulations. Prior to joining Temasek Polytechnic, Hansen has worked for 3 years with HSBC and Citibank, specializing in international cash transfer operations. Aside from Economics, Hansen is also interested in Chinese History, and enjoys running and swimming in his free time. |
