Our students begin to undertake industry-based projects even before they graduate. These projects are the sophisticated results of months of effort, and each of these projects will lead to the construction of a prototype or deal with real situations in industry. Working on these projects has given students the opportunity to synthesize and apply what they have learnt in order to provide solutions to business problems. In the process they have acquired lifelong skills and new knowledge as they worked collaboratively with fellow students and industry partners.

| When BIT juniors undergo a 16 weeks internship program attached to companies as business or IT executives, a group of 4 students chose the path less traveled and started their own IT consultancy firm instead. To-date, plusOne IT Consultancy has implemented 7 projects varying from Content Management to Customer Relationship Management Systems and has seen healthy revenue growth since week 8 of their stratup. plusOne IT Consultancy provides open-source business and technological solutions to small and medium enterprises. “We penetrate the market by providing suitable open-source IT solutions customized to fit our clients' needs”, said Jeremy, Sales and Marketing Manager. Unlike proprietary software, open-source solutions are freely available on the internet for anyone who wishes to download, reuse, redistribute or even improve upon. A wide spectrum of open source solutions exist, ranging from Word Processors, Spreadsheets to Accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning systems. Judging from customers' responses, the firm is certainly doing well. “We have gotten enquiries for not just our services, but also proposals for business ventures!” said Chief Technology Officer, Lim Jiayi. | back to top | |
