How long is the Student Internship Programme (SIP) for Temasek Business School students? How do I apply for the student to work in my company?

The SIP for Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management students is for 20 weeks. The SIP for the Diploma in Law & Management, Logistics & Operations Management, Marketing, Business and Accounting & Finance students is for 12 weeks. The SIP for Diploma of Communications and Media Management is for 24 weeks and for Diploma of Business Information Technology is 16 weeks. What is the procedure for application of Leave of Absence (LOA) for official events or competition?

LOA is normally submitted by students for participation in a school performance, official event or competition. It must be submitted with supporting documents at least one week before the date of absence except under special, extenuating or emergency cases. Students must inform and get the recommendation from the Care Person and approval from their Course Managers. The form required for the submission of application of LOA is obtainable from the Temasek Business School General Office.

There are 19 United Kingdom, 10 Australia and 2 New Zealand universities whose LLB is recognized in Singapore for purposes of practicing law. Of these, several recognize our Diploma in Law & Management. The popular ones which our graduates go to are University of Leicester, University of Durham, University of Exeter and University of Southampton. In Australia, universities like Murdoch, Flinders and Tasmania have accepted our graduates. In New Zealand, Victoria University of Wellington & University of Auckland recognize our diploma. Generally, with the exception of the top end universities like Oxford, Cambridge & Melbourne, students from the polytechnic should be able to secure a place if they have a good final result. Entry requirements vary but generally they would require a B average. The admissions will begin as soon as the O level results are released.

It depends on the aptitude of the student as well as his/her strengths in the different subjects. Normally ELB2R2 (English Language, Best Two Subjects, Relevant Two Subjects) is the guiding principle. For example, if a person is strong in Principles of Accounts, it may be good for him/her to consider Business courses like Diploma in Accounting & Finance and Diploma in Business/Logistics & Operations Management/Marketing.

The Diploma in Communications & Media Management course offers a subject in Broadcast Performance in which students are trained in on-air presentation for television. In addition Temasek Business School also offers a subject in Broadcast Journalism. As part of this subject, students are required to produce and present weekly news bulletins. They will be trained in all aspects of television journalism including how to be an effective television reporter/journalist, newscaster, news producer, editor etc.

Will I be debarred from the examinations if I do not meet the 85% attendance requirement?
|
| |
There will be no debarment against students who fail to attain at least 85% attendance requirement. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement for a subject will be eligible to take both the main, and where applicable, supplementary examination/assessment for the subject. However, affected subject for which attendance requirement of 85% is not met will be awarded with a maximum non-graded pass at the main or supplementary examination/assessment, with an associated grade point of 1.0.
